Festival Overview

The 2008 Festival, Polish Films:Universal Stories will screen one film each day, November 7, 8, and 9. The festival will open at the Prothro Theater, Harry Ransom Center of the University of Texas at Austin and will continue through the next two days (November 8 & 9) at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas Spirit Theater. All films are in Polish with English subtitles.

This year we are featuring two exciting Polish directors who will present their films in person: Jacek Bromski from Warsaw, Poland and Mariusz Kotowski who lives right here in Austin. Both directors will be present at the opening reception that starts at 6pm on Friday. The screening of Kotowski's "Pola Negri - Life is a Dream in Cinema" will follow the reception at 7pm. Our audience will have an opportunity to meet Mr. Bromski also on Saturday at the screening of his film "In God's Little Garden." Austin Polish Society is very excited to introduce Mr. Bromski to the students of The University of Texas on November 12 and 13 when he will present at the RTF department and at the Center of East European and Eurasian Studies.

Fundrasing Goal

Fifty percent of the profit from the Austin Polish Film Festival will fund film internships for students from both Poland and the United States. A portion of funds will also go to further the activities of the Austin Polish Society.
